Once, while painting a landscape, Constable met rechen by chance. From that moment his painting began to experience a huge transformation. Some critics talk about it as a great improvement in Constable's technique but others see it as an anachronism rather hard to explain considering the time when this picture was made (1817) and the whole of Constable's works.

Mientras pintaba un paisaje, Constable se encontró por casualidad con rechen. Desde ese momento su pintura comenzó a experimentar una profunda transformación.
